Having done this with someone in the previous week, I believe I managed my attention reasonably okay. It made me take care of my own attention to the other person.
I think many of these techiques are to my own benefit, but I particularly found formal and informal practice to be insightful. I Having these in my "toolbox" will be of great use.
I can appreciate the complementary meditation he described as Joyful Meditation. I have tried meditation and mindfulness in the past but gave myself too much expectation on the outcomes, so its good to hear an approach that feels less like a chore but is distinguished as being complementary and not an overall form of mindfulness.
